The Copthorne Tara is ideal for travellers who want a more modern option in this very traditional part of London. The staff are friendly and the views from the high floors are excellent.
The Copthorne Tara Hotel is housed in a modern, 12-storey building, which dates from the 1970s and has a conservatory-style entrance full of plants. The spacious, marble-tiled, split-level lobby features an imposing, wood-panelled reception desk and a seating area composed of comfortable leather sofas.
The 833 guestrooms are spacious and elegantly furnished. Traditional décor focused on natural wood and soothing shades enhances and complements each room. All are clean and well maintained, as are the tiled en suite bathrooms. Six floors of standard rooms are designated non-smoking. The hotel offers a variety of dining options. Bugis Street Brasserie – situated on the ground floor, under the supervision of chef Kok San Wong – offers a relaxed atmosphere, specialising in Singaporean and Malaysian cuisine offering a tantalising selection of dishes in the heart of Kensington. House specialities include Mee Goreng, Nasi Goreng, fish fillets stir-fry with black pepper sauce and Aromatic crispy duck.
Opening hours are from 12 noon until 10.30pm.
The other Brasserie, also on the ground floor, serves a wide range of exquisite international dishes in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. A generous buffet breakfast is also offered here every morning. Open from 7.00am - 6.00pm daily, CafeXpress offers a range of freshly made coffees and teas, together with delicious hot and cold snacks.
The hotel also offers a secure on site car park (£25.00 per 24 hours and hourly rates apply), spaces cannot be booked or guaranteed.
