A good hotel for the budget traveller. Rooms are fairly compact but do offer the facilities a traveller requires including wi-fi access. Staff are generally friendly and the location is terrific.
The Barkston Gardens Hotel occupies a converted Victorian terraced building with a red brick façade, which retains its original charm and splendour. Recently refurbished, the spacious lobby features marble flooring, a wood panelled reception area and a compact seating area. Though the 93 guestrooms are fairly small, the high ceilings lend them a feeling a space. They are decorated in an understated style, with neutral colour schemes complemented by floral patterned bed linen and curtains. The bar is to the left of the lobby and the restaurant is to the right. Both are simply furnished and the latter is bistro-style restaurant, serving primarily French cuisine in very relaxed surroundings.
